No Other Will Do –
Karen Witemeyer
I have
always enjoyed Karen Witemeyer’s books. No Other Will Do (Book 1 in the Ladies
of Harper’s Station series) is a fun read, although not as humorous as many of
Witemeyer’s other books like Head in the
Clouds.
No Other Will Do is the story of Emma
Chandler, a young woman who has always given of herself, and Malachi Shaw. Malachi, Mal, was a homeless unloved child
until his paths crossed with Emma….and her aunts. This story really begins when Emma wires Mal
that she needs his help. Of course, he
is on the next train to her. You should
know that Emma runs a women’s colony for the abused and neglected. Someone is trying to run them out of town.
Mal isn’t
very smooth with females even though he has deep feelings for Emma. He tried soothing her like he would his horse
AND it worked! I did find that very
funny! One of my worst nightmares
happened in this book as well. I won’t
give it away, but it took place in a field with Helen!
Obviously,
this book is very WOMAN proud, but I liked how it wasn’t ANTI-MAN. I love how Emma and her aunts took Mal in as
a child and just loved and nurtured him.
I love how Mal does the same for Andrew.
It really
is a good read. Read it!
**I was given this book in exchange for my honest
opinion. Thank you, Bethany House!**
