The Lacemaker –
Laura Frantz
Laura Frantz has a way with
words. I teach history to elementary
students and I can see how much research she puts into her works. This is the story of Liberty Lawson and Noble
Rynallt. They are thrown together by her
intended, his cousin during the beginnings of the American Revolution. Liberty’s rather is a devout Royalist and
her mother is a Patriot. Where do you
think Liberty’s leanings will fall? She
has to take to her roots of lacemaking when she is left alone and
destitute. She has a character beyond
most young women of her time.
Noble is a Patriot, who isn’t
interested in finding a wife during the turmoil where he finds himself a
leader. I love how this story stays true
historically. I love how it mentions
what happened to the slaves and indentured during this upheaval of life as they
knew it.
Love this
book! Read it!
