The Innkeeper of Ivy Hill (Tales From
Ivy Hill Book #1) - Julie Klassen
I love
Julie Klassen! She is one of my favorite
authors. Several of her books rate
among my favorites like A Girl in the
Gatehouse and The Silent Governess. Knowing this is the truth….it pains me to say
that I didn’t even finish The Innkeeper
of Ivy Hill. I did read about 50% of
the book, but I never felt a connection with the characters.
Jane Bell
is a young widow who is left a coaching inn by her husband. Her mother-in-law, Thora, grew up in the inn.
Thora knows all about running the
inn. Jane has never worked in the inn – really she
has never worked anywhere. The inn comes
to her with a huge debt. Jane does dig
in and learns how to work. Her
brother-in-law is helping at the inn too.
I don’t trust him, but I didn’t care enough to finish the book. There is a new romance on the horizon, I
think, for Thora.
I will try
Julie Klassen’s next book. I am sure I
will be the only one who feels this way about this book!
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
